The Georgia Court of Appeals has agreed to hear a Chattooga County case that involved a teacher released from her job by the Chattooga County Board of Education.
Chattooga High School teacher Fannie Searels was released from her job in October of 2007 and in February of this year, Chattooga County Superior Court Judge Kristina Cook Connelly reversed the school board’s decision.
When Ms. Searels was released from her job in 2007 a hearing was held before the board of education and the State Board of Education upheld the local board’s decision.
In Judge Connelly’s order the school board was ordered to pay Ms. Searels backpay and reinstate her job.
The case is set to go before the Georgia Court of Appeals in July.
