Joe Cook with the Coosa River Basin Initiative spoke with AM 1180 about the important role the Chattooga River plays in Chattooga County. Cook said that the river is somewhat under-appreciated by local residents because some see it as heavily used by industry and not good for recreational use.
Cook said that with the Clean Water Act, the Chattooga River has developed into a good source – even if underdeveloped source – of recreation for the area. CRBI is planning two "paddle events" this year on the Chattooga River and a clean-up effort as well.
