IN DAY ONE OF THE SAM PARKER MURDER TRIAL, PROSECUTORS WERE ATTEMPTING TO PAINT THE DEFENDANT AS A VIOLENT, JEALOUS MAN  GOING THROUGH A NASTY DIVORCE… DURING WHICH, THEY CLAIM… HE KILLED HIS ESTRANGED WIFE, THERESA.

EARLY WITNESSES WERE FROM THE BLACK BEAR LODGE IN GATLINBURG, WHERE THERESA PARKER STAYED ON A BRIEF TRIP.  DURING HER STAY, MOTEL EMPLOYEES TESTIFIED, SAM PARKER CALLED SAYING HE WAS "INVESTIGATING" AND WANTED INFORMATION ON WHETHER HIS WIFE WAS THERE WITH SOMEONE ELSE.

ONE OF THE STAR WITNESSES IN THE PROSECUTION’S CASE IS EXPECTED TO BE FORMER LAFAYETTE POLICE OFFICER BEN CHAFFIN.  DISTRICT ATTORNEY LEIGH PATTERSON TOLD THE JURY THAT HE WILL TESTIFY ABOUT AN EARLY MORNING CALL HE GOT FROM HIS THEN CO-WORKER, SAM PARKER… DEALING WITH THE DISAPPEARANCE OF HIS WIFE.

PARKER’S LAWYER, DAVID DUNN, TOLD THE COURT IN OPENING STATEMENTS THAT PROSECUTORS HAVE "NOTHING" TO CONVICT SAM PARKER OF MURDER.
