This holiday season don’t let office closings or travel plans delay your driver’s licensing needs.

The Georgia Department of Driver Services (DDS) recently launched several new online driver’s licensing services including the ability to renew a driver’s license while changing an address, ordering an identification card and the payment of failure to appear license suspensions.

Customers may access these services from the comfort of their home or office seven days a week, 24 hours a day by visiting www.dds.ga.gov.

DDS delivers the newly-ordered licenses and IDs to the customer’s verified address on file within seven to ten days.

Other online services include the ability to request a certified Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) and access any points accumulated on your record.

DDS’s first priority is to maintain the integrity and security of one of the state’s most important processes. With the enhanced Internet services, a customer’s online experience is as safe and secure as doing business in person at a DDS Customer Service Center (CSC).

DDS Internet services offer even more protection than before, using features such as personalized security questions and CAPTCHA. CAPTCHA is a program that protects websites against hackers by generating and grading tests that humans can pass but automated computer programs cannot.

Comparable to Internet banking and shopping, the ability to personalize one’s account with DDS protects our customers’ identity and personal data. After the transaction, customers can print an order confirmation for their records and receive an email notification.

Customers may be eligible for a $5 discount for using Internet services. However, those who choose to go online will definitely save valuable time by eliminating an unnecessary trip to the DDS.
