Over the weekend AM 1180 reported that there were several non-profit organizations within the county that are in danger of losing their tax exempt status if they fail to file a new form with the IRS..
Many of these groups already operate on razor-thin budgets and some worry an unexpected tax bill could force organizations to close. More than 200,000 non-profits nationwide could be affected.
In fact non-profits can still file the form today without penalty since May 15th was on a Saturday. For a list of Chattooga County non-profits who have not filed you can go to the story from Sunday at www.chattoogainfo.com
