On July 26, 2007, The Women’s Information Network, Inc. will offer “Dinner with a Doctor”, an event designed to screen postmenopausal women for osteoporosis and to educate them on what can be done to prevent and treat the disease. The program will be held at the Trion Recreational Center from 5:30 -7:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 6th.  Women can be screened for postmenopausal osteoporosis at this program.  A light calcium–rich dinner will be provided and bone density testing performed.  Additionally, Sharon Baker, a women’s health nurse practitioner and Dr. Keith Rott, a rheumatologist from Harbin Clinic will be speaking and answering questions.  Women attending will receive results of their bone density testing to share with their health professional, a handbook of information about osteoporosis and the opportunity to ask questions. Since one in two women over the age of 50 will fracture a bone in their lifetime, the Surgeon General calls the present time, “The Decade of the Bone and Joint.”  Osteoporosis is a debilitating and painful disease that has NO symptoms prior to a fracture. Everyone is encouraged to attend.  Registration can be done by calling:  706-234-8483 or on line
