October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month and AM 1180 will feature an interview today with Chattooga County Sheriff John Everett and Diane Young from the Family Crisis Center talking about the issue of domestic violence and how it affects Chattooga County.

There are several reminders around the county to make local residents aware of the issue this month including a "teardrop display" featured on the lawn of the Chattooga County Courthouse.  Also residents may notice the "Silent Witness" silhouette figures located around the area.  The Silent Witness Campaign is a national initiative to raise awareness about domestic violence.  Life sized, wooden silhouette figres representing vicitms killed by abusive partners are displayed around our community.

Be sure to join AM 1180 for this Newsmaker Interview coming up this morning at 8:15 AM and again this afternoon following the trading post in the noon hour.
