Firefighters responded to a call on First Street in LaFayette between midnight and 1 a.m. Wednesday. The house, located near the old LaFayette High School building, was unoccupied at the time.

According to Chief Tommy Freeman with the LaFayette Police, Fire and Safety Department, no one was injured and no property was damaged other than the house itself.

The cause of the fire has yet to be determined. A state fire investigator will be called in to investigate the scene. Arson has not yet been ruled out as the most likely cause.
