Yesterday was the last day to register to vote in the upcoming Primary elections in Chattooga County in July. Chattooga County Probate Judge Jon Payne, who also serves as the county’s elections superintendent, told AM 1180 that registered voters can cast their ballots early at the Registrar’s Office located at the old McGinnis Drug Buidling just south of the Chattooga County Courthouse.
Judge Payne said that early voting had been light in Chattooga County with only around 70 people casting ballots so far. The Primary election will be held on July 20th and voters will have to choose between a Republican or Democratic ballot. There are contested local school board elections on the Democratic ballot and a contested state senate race on the Republican ticket.
