Chattooga County voters were not able to cast their ballots early for the August 10th run-off election on Friday due to a state-wide recount that was ordered by the Georgia Secretary of State’s office. The re-count was for the Democratic Primary’s election for Georgia Commissioner of Labor.
Judge Jon Payne, the election superintendent for the county, said that he regretted that voters would not be able to begin voting yesterday, but said that voters will be able to cast their ballots early beginning Monday at the registrar’s office located at the old McGinnis Drug Store building just south of the courthouse in Summerville.
