A Floyd County woman has been taken to Floyd Medical after driving her Ford Taurus into a house on 808 South Broad.

According to Pfc. Carl Davis of the Rome Police Department:

The driver of the Taurus was an elderly lady whose name has not been released. The driver was attempting to park her car in the parking lot of the Etowah Landing Care and Rehabilitation Center when instead of braking she accelerated and drove the car between the building and another parked car, hit a bench in front of the building before crossing Broad Street and driving into a house.

Officers on the scene said the house was a duplex with one occupant who will has been put in a hotel for the holiday weekend by the building’s owner.

Davis said the driver will receive a citation. She was taken to the hospital for evaluation.
