Want to be an extra in a movie? Want to volunteer behind the scenes?
The producers of “Sahkanaga,” a movie inspired by the Tri-State Crematory scandal, will host a short film screening and discussion with the filmmaker on Saturday, May 23, from 3-5 p.m. at the Walker County Civic Center on U.S. 27 in Rock Spring.
Free popcorn and soda will be provided.
Writer-director John Henry Summerour, a former Chickamauga resident, and some of the production staff will talk about the film, recruit extras and volunteers, and work to raise funds for the production costs. Donations to support the film are tax-deductible.
The movie tells the story of Paul, a teenager growing up in rural Georgia. After he makes a shocking discovery in the woods, the teen struggles with whether to keep a terrible secret or risk shattering a potential romance, as well as his relationship with his parents.
The film’s crew has scouted locations across Walker County and will start shooting on June 2, Summerour said.
