According to Etowah County Sheriff Todd Entrekin, it appears that at least four people have died in an early morning fire in the Ball Play community, near the Cherokee/Etowah, Alabama county line. Entrekin said a family of five, including three children lived in the mobile home, located on Jones Valley Road. Initial reports led to firefighters being dispatched at about 6:00am Friday morning, to what was originally thought to have been a woods fire. Natalie Barton, Public Information Officer for the Etowah County Sheriff’s Department, said the mobile home was destroyed in the fire and the roof had collapsed.  Four bodies were found in the trailer. The Alabama State Fire Marshal was called in to investigate.
