A wild accident on Branham Avenue in south Rome between 9 and 10 Thursday night has claimed the life of a Rome woman.

62 year old Shelly Ann Marbury of a Branham Avenue address passed away this morning, however Deputy coroner Ernie Studdard says it has not been determined whether the woman died from a seizure that could have been the cause of the accident, or if she passed away as a result of injuries suffered in the accident.

Marbury lost control of her Nissan Sentra, hitting guy wires to a utility pole, crashing through a guard rail and then hitting a parked pick up truck.  The impact sent the truck into the side of a home on Branham Avenue.

The woman was not conscious when the first responders arrived.  After she was removed from her vehicle, rescuers transported the woman to the Floyd Medical Center.  It’s not clear whether she ever regained consciousness prior to passing away overnight.
