A Knoxville, Tenn., man was arrested in Whitfield County Friday on state charges of criminal attempted child exploitation.

According to the Federal Bureau of Investigation:

Anthony Brown, 26, of Knoxville, traveled to Whitfield County to have sex with what he thought was an underage girl. He had previously engaged in Internet based "chats" and e-mails with undercover officers and agents.

Brown is currently at the Whitfield County Detention Facility.

The Northwest Georgia Crimes Against Children Task Force consists of federal agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation and officers from the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office, Dalton Police Department, Dade County Sheriff’s Office, Rossville Police Department and the Catoosa County Sheriff’s Office.
