The Chattooga County Library is looking for local groups, organizations and businesses to display trees this holiday season in the annual Festival of Trees.

The festival of trees began many years ago in Chattooga County and was initially sponsored by the Chattooga County Chamber of Commerce. The Trees were displayed at the Chattooga County Civic Center. However, that tradition lapsed for many years and for the past 4 to 5 years the library has sponsored the event and held it at the Summerville Library on Farrar Drive.

According to library director Susan Stevens about six to seven trees are displayed throughout the library each year but she would like to see more. Any local group, organization or business can display a tree with the theme of their choice.

Floor standing trees need to be five to eight feet tall and counter top trees can also be displayed. All trees must be artificial and no food products or lights are allowed. The local group, organization or business must supply the tree and decorations.

Tree set up is November 14th through 22 with the trees available for public viewing November 22 through Jan. 3rd
