… FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH LATE SATURDAY NIGHT…

THE FLOOD WATCH CONTINUES FOR

* PORTIONS OF CENTRAL GEORGIA… EAST CENTRAL GEORGIA… NORTH CENTRAL GEORGIA… NORTHEAST GEORGIA… NORTHWEST GEORGIA AND WEST CENTRAL GEORGIA.

* THROUGH LATE SATURDAY NIGHT

* AN AREA OF LOW PRESSURE WILL PUSH NORTHEAST OUT OF MISSISSIPPI INTO EAST CENTRAL TENNESSEE TODAY. THE TRAILING COLD FRONT IS EXPECTED TO BECOME STATIONARY OVER EXTREME NORTH GEORGIA AND PROVIDE THE FOCUS FOR SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS AS A SERIES OF UPPER DISTURBANCES MOVE PARALLEL TO THE FRONT.

ANOTHER STORM SYSTEM IS EXPECTED TO DEVELOP OVER CENTRAL TEXAS ON FRIDAY AND DEEPEN AS IT MOVES NORTHEAST TO THE TENNESSEE VALLEY BY SATURDAY. A TRAILING COLD FRONT FROM THIS LOW WILL PRODUCE NUMEROUS THUNDERSTORMS WITH HEAVY RAIN WHICH WILL MOVE THROUGH GEORGIA ON SATURDAY… ENDING BY EARLY SUNDAY.

BETWEEN THESE TWO STORM SYSTEMS… WIDESPREAD RAINFALL TOTALS OF 3 TO 4 INCHES WITH ISOLATED HIGHER AMOUNTS CAN BE ANTICIPATED OVER MOST OF NORTH AND CENTRAL GEORGIA… BEFORE THE PRECIPITATION ENDS BY EARLY SUNDAY. THE HEAVY RAIN THREAT AREA AT THIS TIME WILL BE GENERALLY NORTH OF A LINE FROM COLUMBUS THROUGH MACON TO AUGUSTA.
