Floyd County Police are investigating the shooting of an unidentified man in the parking lot of the Cadillac Club on Cave Spring Road around 2:30 a.m. Sunday.

According to Detective Jeff Jones, the victim was rushed by friends to Floyd Medical Center shortly after he was shot in the upper leg area after he was involved in an altercation with a suspect.

“At some point during the altercation someone pulled out a weapon and fired a round,” Jones said.

Jones said the victim, whose name police are not yet releasing, was released from Floyd Medical Center after receiving treatment Sunday.

He also said police had leads into who the suspect might be.

“We’re confident we’re going to find the shooter,” he said.

Shortly after the shooting incident, Jones said a person went into the Kangaroo at Cave Spring Road and U.S. Highway 27 South and tried to use a bloody $10 bill. He said the two incidents might not even be connected, but that police are looking into it regardless.
