Michael E. Gonsalves, M.D., has joined Floyd Primary Care in Summerville as a family medicine physician. Dr. Gonsalves will see patients at 11766 Highway 27, beginning January 1.
Originally from Napa, California, Dr. Gonsalves earned his medical doctorate from St. Matthews University School of Medicine in Belize, Central America. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree, with honors, in biology with a minor in chemistry from San Francisco State University, Calif. In addition, Dr. Gonsalves is a graduate of the Floyd Family Medicine Residency program. Prior to attending medical school, Dr. Gonsalves served as a Sergeant and medical laboratory specialist in the U.S. Air Force from which he was an honor graduate.
He is a member of the American Society for Clinical Pathology and the United States Department of Health & Human Services. He and his wife, Deena, reside in Rome, with children, Giovanna and Christian.
