Floyd Medical Center’s efforts to improve the quality of care given to stroke patients have earned the organization a prestigious Silver Award from the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association. The Silver Award is given to hospitals in which 85 percent of eligible stroke patients are treated according to nationally recognized stroke care guidelines for 12 consecutive months established and promoted by the associations through the Get with the Guidelines SM program. Floyd Medical Center has demonstrated that its stroke care program follows national standards and guidelines that can significantly improve outcomes for stroke patients, and as a result, is nationally certified as a Primary Stroke Center by the Joint Commission on Accreditation for Healthcare Organizations.
