A 46-year old Rome woman is charged with felony vehicular homocide following a deadly one-vehicle accident Saturday evening. Carla Denise Mascote, of an Oakcrest Trail address is also charged with misdemeanor counts of driving too fast for conditions and DUI. She is also being held for Polk County authorities.
According to reports, Mascote was driving on Turner Chapel Road when she left the roadway while trying to negotiate a curve. The vehicle rolled several times. A passenger, 41-year old Donald Gordon of Rome, was ejected from the vehicle and was later pronounced dead at a local hospital.
