There will be no playoff appearances for our local football teams as both Trion and Chattooga were eliminated from postseason play last Friday night. Trion needed victories over Gordon Lee and Bremen to make the playoffs but were defeated 28-14 at the hands of the Trojans. Chattooga needed a victory over Dade County coupled with a Gordon Central loss to North Murray. The Indians did their part but Gordon Central ended their playoff hopes with a victory over North Murray. Tonight, Trion will finish their season on the road at Bremen and Chattooga will finish up at home against Rockmart.
However, both Trion and Chattooga still have something to play for tonight. Chattooga has an overall record of 4-5 on the season and a victory tonight would prevent a losing season. Since the year 2000, Chattooga has only had two losing seasons.
Meanwhile, the Trion Bulldogs will be missing out on the playoffs for only the third time since 1990. The Bulldogs could use a victory tonight to avoid becoming a part of Trion history. Since 1948, only the 1954 and 2007 teams finished the year with 2 wins. Trion is 2-7 overall on the season heading into the Bremen game tonight.
The Chattooga vs Rockmart game will be broadcast on AM 1180 and both the Chattooga and Trion vs Bremen game will be broadcast online at www.chattoogainfo.com. Join us around 7:15 for the pregame show with kickoff to follow at 7:30.
