A former Polk County jailer has pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in Rome to charges of violating the rights of an inmate.

Joshua David Lowe, 25, of Aragon, beat an inmate who was strapped in a chair during an incident at the jail on Feb. 7. Judge Robert Vining accepted the plea and set sentencing for Oct. the 15.

Lowe could receive up to 10-years and a maximum fine of 250-thousand dollars
