Chattooga County Public Works Director Lamar Canada told AM 1180 that the county will be having "Free Garbage" days today and tomorrow.

Canada said that the decision was made to have two days to hopefuly alleviate some of the congestion that happened at the transfer station during the last free garbage day last year.  Canada said that there would be extra personnel on hand for both days including crews from the County Jail and Hays State Prison.

Residents are reminded that no commercial tires will be accepted and there is a limit of six car or personal truck tires per day.  The free garbage day will be held at the Chattooga County Transfer Station on Friday and Saturday March 26th and March 27th from 7:30 AM until 4 PM.

There will also be a trash collection point at the Town of Lyerly across from the Pure Station.  This is a joint effort between the county and the Town of Lyerly.
