Chattooga County government is once again offering the citizens of the county the opportunity to dispose of garbage free of charge.  The free garbage days began on yesterday and continue today.

The Chattooga County transfer station will be staffed today with county workers along with county and state prisoners.  Commissioner Jason Winters told AM 1180 that he hopes Chattooga County’s residents will take advantage of this service to help keep our county clean.

The transfer station will be open today from 7:30 AM until 4:30 PM.  Public Works Director Lamar Canada told AM 1180 that no commercial tires will be accepted and there is a limit of six car or personal truck tires per day.

There will also be a trash collection point at the Town of Lyerly across from the Pure Station.  This is a joint effort between the county and the Town of Lyerly.
