The Chattooga Indians took the sting out of the Rockmart Yellow Jackets Friday night defeating them 25 to 13. Rockmart began the game by scoring on their first possession, but the Indians quickly retaliated with a 76 yard touchdown run by Indian senior, Senorise Perry. Freshman kicker Lance Buice made the extra point and the game as tied at 7. Both teams failed to score on their next two possessions. Rockmart fumbled late in the first half, but Chattooga couldn’t capitalize on the play. Indian Senorise Perry scored again for the Indians at the beginning of the second half. The extra point was no good and the score was 13 to 7. Rockmart answered on their next possession tying the score at 13. The Indians scored again on a 41 yard pass. The pass was intended for Nathan Schuster who tiped the ball, but Bradley Black was close and took the ball in to scoring position. Two plays later quarterback Rashad Ramsey snuck the ball into the endzone. The extra point was blocked leaving the score at 19 to 13. Ramsey found a hole toward the end of the game and took the ball in 26 yards for the last score of the game. Chattooga will now advance to the Class AA playoffs where they will travel to Atlanta to face Lovett. Kickoff for the game will be at 7:30pm.
The Trion Bulldogs upset the Darlington Tigers Friday night with a score of 21 to 14. The Bulldogs are now ranked the number 4 seed in the postseason for the first time since 2007. Trion’s Hayden Tucker was a big factor in the game, rushing for 172 yards on 27-carries. Also, Ryan Wilson surpassed the 1,000-yard rushing mark for the third straight year. Darlington’s only score came late in the first quarter. Trion scored 21 straight points. Trion will travel to Lincoln County this Friday night to face off against the Red Devils.
