A Ft Payne man wanted for the alleged theft of several thousand dollars from a business in Dekalb County last week, was arrested over the weekend in Texas. According to Ft Payne Police Commissioner Ron Ogletree, Bryan Robert Owens, age 19, was taken into custody by a SWAT Team in Jasper, Texas at approximately 5:15 Sunday afternoon.

Commissioner Ogletree said that a robbery had taken place in that area, and when police were checking the area, they found a truck fitting the description of the one which Owens was driving  the suspect was arrested without incident.

Ogletree said that once Owens has been extradited to Ft Payne, he will then be charged with felony Theft of Property – reportedly, both money and a handgun were found in the room where he had been staying. Jasper, Texas is a city of around 8,000 people, located in the east-central portion of the state – it’s not known why Owens chose that destination.
