A Fort Payne car dealership, raided by the Alabama Department of Revenue in May, has closed.
The lot of Crown Kia, of Fort Payne, has been cleared and the site is now up for lease. A spokesperson with Crown Kia in Gadsden would only say that the move was “a business decision” on the part of the franchise’s owner, Forrest Frost, of Gadsden.
Frost could not be reached for comment on Monday.
ADR Public Information Manager Carla Snellgrove, on Monday, again said she could only say that agents executed court-issued warrants at the dealership in May to obtain records.
At that time, Fort Payne Police Commissioner Ron Ogletree said ADR officials called and asked for a marked Fort Payne police unit to accompany them to the dealership to obtain those records.
Crown Motors in Gadsden and Anniston and Kirkland and Co. Accounting were also part of the May raid.
