The Scottsboro Police Department confirmed the identity Wednesday of a body found behind the Jackson County Board of Education.
According to Scottsboro Police Captain Barry Caps – the body was that of a 38 year old Ft Payne resident – Tracy Seale.
Around 12:15pm Tuesday a Norfolk Southern maintenance worker reported finding a body about 100 yards off of West Willow Street behind the Jackson County Board of Education building and the body was in a ditch next to the railroad tracks.
An autopsy is being conducted by the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences in Huntsville to determine the cause of death.
Seale had reportedly been missing for several weeks and investigators from DeKalb County were called to the scene Tuesday to help identify the body.
Norfolk Southern Investigators are assisting the Scottsboro Police Department in the case.
