Alabama State Agriculture and Industries Commissioner Ron Sparks said Wednesday that he plans to hold a series of press conferences to announce his campaign plans for 2010. Sparks, a native of Ft Payne, said about two weeks ago that he would announce whether he would run for governor or lieutenant governor, that decision will reportedly soon be revealed on the steps of the DeKalb County Courthouse. Also on Wednesday, Lieutenant Governor Jim Folsom Jr., announced that he would seek re-election in 2010. Sparks has hinted that he plans to run against Congressman Arthur Davis for governor of the state. Davis is the only Democrat who has declared a run for the post so far. Sparks is currently serving his second term as State Agriculture and Industries Commissioner, and can not serve a third term, due to state term limits.
