Funeral services have been set for a Centre businessman that died in a plane crash in Centre over the weekend:
Mr. Thomas Harley McGatha, Sr. , 52 of Centre, passed away Sunday, April 5, 2009 in a Birmingham Hospital.
Funeral services will be 11:AM Thursday at Perry Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Melvyn Salter officiating; burial will follow in Cherokee Memory Garden. The family will receive friends from 5 until 8: P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers include Josh Bryant, Justin McGatha, Shane Buttram, Wayland McGatha, Cody Henry, Darrell Mackey, Justin Ellzey, Brent McGatha and Scott J. Bowman.
Honorary Pallbearers include John Myers, Dave Fitzgerald, Alan King, Ron Erskine, Bill Carroll and ONeal Maze.
Survivors include his wife, Alecia Connell McGatha; Son, Thomas H. (Shannon) McGatha, Jr. of Centre; Brothers, Bud Franklin McGatha, Daniel McGatha, Marvin McGatha, Andrew McGatha, Guy McGatha, Tony McGatha, Joel McGatha and Richard McGatha all of Centre; Sisters, Lovella Morris and Shirley Buttram both of Centre; Two Grandchildren, Ellarie Fayth and Caden Thomas-Dale McGatha; Several Nieces and Nephews.
Mr. McGatha was a native of Cherokee County, the son of the late Bud and Alvirta McGatha, and was the Owner of Harley McGatha Construction Company.
