Prices at the gas pump appear on a steady decline, providing some much-needed relief for drivers.A month ago, local regular unleaded prices were hovering around $4 a gallon. The past couple of weeks they have inched their way down by about 35 cents a gallon. Prices in our area ranged between $3.61 and $3.66 a gallon. The national average is $3.86. According to the Associated Press, oil prices slipped below $118 a barrel Wednesday, which is $30 below their record high. Jim Tudor, president of the Georgia Association of Convenience Stores, said the drop in price-per-barrel is responsible for the lower prices consumers are paying at the pump.
