The Georgia Baptist Convention has approved the change in status of Shorter College to become Shorter University.  The move was first approved by Shorter Trustees as a means to help the college meet the needs of the workforce in Georgia by becoming a University.  Approval was needed by the Georgia Baptist Convention since it meant a change in the 135 year old educational institution’s charter.  The change from "college" to "university" is expected to be complete by June 1st of 2010.
