A Georgia man is heading back across the state line on Fugitive from Justice charges, after being apprehended by Cherokee County authorities.

Off-duty Deputy Tony Petitt spotted a suspicious vehicle behind Jordan`s Gin on Highway 411 – and when he attempted to question two individuals who were with the vehicle, both fled.

Suspecting that the two were possibly trying to steal metal police followed up with a local metal recycling business and he was soon able to identify the driver of the vehicle – with a background check, soon revealing there was an outstanding warrant for a parole violation, in the state of of Georgia; at that point a Fugitive from Justice warrant was obtained.

Shortly thereafter Corporal police located the suspect`s vehicle parked beside a camper; officers quickly surrounded the location and took 40 year old Richard Barrett, Jr into custody at the scene.

He was taken to the Cherokee County Detention Center where he awaits extradition to Georgia
