State Sen. Ross Tolleson (R-Perry) announced yesterday that he will host a Rally for Energy Independence for Georgia at the State Capitol at 10:00 a.m. on August 6, 2008. Lieutenant Governor Casey Cagle will make a special appearance to highlight what the state has done to invest in alternative energy sources and initiatives. Representatives of small businesses and industries that have been affected by energy prices will also take part in the event.
“Georgians are feeling pain at the gas pumps and this fact is not lost on lawmakers at any level,” said Sen. Tolleson. “We are seeing some of the highest prices on gas and crude oil that we’ve ever seen in this country and our state must lead the way in alternatives that provide relief. It’s time to start exploring every option available in an effort to control these skyrocketing energy costs.”
The Rally for Energy Independence for Georgia will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 6, on the Washington Street side of the State Capitol.
