Georgia lost 61,300 jobs during the past year and is near the bottom of all states because of the large number of jobs lost, according to a new federal report.
Georgia placed 47th.
Georgia’s unemployment rate in October hit a 16-year high of 7 percent. Manufacturing, construction, retail trade, and private employment agencies were especially hard hit.
Texas leads the nation with job growth, while the only states hit hard than Georgia are: Arizona, Michigan, California and Florida.
