Chattooga County Public Works Director Lamar Canada told AM 1180 earlier this evening that Gilreath Mill Road Bridge would most likely have to be replaced.
Canada said that the structural integrity of the bridge may have been compromised from the flood waters. The house located adjacent to the bridge is estimated to be a total loss. Reportedly the house is owned by a couple from Atlanta. At last word they have not been reached regarding their property.
Canada said that the bridge would be assesed by the Department of Transportation after flood waters recede.
Also the road at Riverhaven Drive will need some major repairs. Early this morning a culvert washed out on the road causing the road to be closed.
