Republican Representative Phil Gingrey, a medical doctor from Marietta who represents Chattooga County and Northwest Georgia in Congress, is unhappy with the passing of the health care reform bill over the weekend by the U.S. House of Representatives.
The bill has now moved to the U.S. Senate. Georgia’s two Republican Senators do not support the health care bill in the Senate. Some Democrats in the U.S. Senate are not entirely happy with the health care bill either.
Almost half of the Democratic Senators in Congress say that they will not support the health care bill if there is the possibility for taxpayer funding for abortions through government subsidized health insurance. A handful of Senators, most notibly Joe Lieberman from Conneticut, have said they will not allow the bill to come to the floor with a "public option." Lieberman told Fox News Sunday that he will not support the public option because of the cost.
