On August 26, Georgia Northwestern Technical College will hold a graduation ceremony at 7:00 pm at the Forum in Rome, GA. The college will present approximately 55 awards for students who graduated from Coosa Valley Technical College during spring 2009 quarter and any student who graduated from Georgia Northwestern Technical College during summer 2009, fall 2009, winter 2010, and spring 2010 quarters who did not participate in the June 17th ceremony.

The invocation at the GNTC Commencement Ceremony will be lead by Mark Upton, program director/instructor of Marketing Management.

The keynote speaker will be GNTC President, Dr. Craig McDaniel.

McDaniel has served as president since April of 1998 and has been associated with the college since 1979. He has held many leadership positions at the college including vice president of Economic Development, vice president of Instructional Services, vice president of Student Services, and vice president of Administrative Services. He holds a doctorate of education and specialist in education degrees from the University of Georgia, a master’s in education from Georgia State University, and a bachelor of science from Carson Newman College. McDaniel has been involved in a number of community and civic activities throughout his career. He has served as the chairman of the Greater Rome Chamber of Commerce, chair of the Rome-Floyd Development Authority, member of the board of directors for Redmond Regional Medical Center, co-chair for the Rome-Floyd Citizens for Better Schools SPLOST Committee, chair for the Rome-Floyd 20/20 Committee, and chairman of the Future Industries Initiative of the Greater Rome Chamber f Commerce. McDaniel has also served as a board member of the United Way of Rome and Floyd County, Cancer Navigators, RESA, Chieftain’s Museum, and RCW Industries.
