It seems every time reports come in about manufacturers in our area it is bad news, but not this time. There is good news coming out of Walker County where Roper Corporation provides 1,800 jobs.
Roper Corporation has struck a deal with Walker County that will keep the plant supplying jobs in the area for at least the next ten years. According to reports, Walker County will provide job training and tax incentives to the plant that supplies appliances to General Electric. In return Roper Corporation has agreed to invest $66 Million over the next 11 years in line expansion and improvements at the Broometown Road Facility in La Fayette.
There had been rumors that Roper would be shut down and moved off – shore after their agreement with Walker County in December of this year. This deal seems to seal the deal for Roper to remain a viable supplier of jobs for the next decade.
