Finally there is some good news on the unemployment in Chattooga County. After several months of seeing initial unemployment claims and the total unemployment number go up, the numbers released yesterday for Chattooga County show that claims went down in February.
Last month there were 76 initial unemployment claims for the county – that’s down from 108 claims in January of this year. Also, the number is 33.9% better than last year. In February of 2010 there were 115 initial unemployment claims in Chattooga County.
Every county in Northwest Georgia saw initial claims go down except Gordon County which saw about a 5% increase in initial claims.
