Word is spreading around Northwest Georgia that a big announcement may be forthcoming from Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue.  Perdue, who is on a trade mission to Europe, was roundly criticized for leaving the state during the fuel and economic crisis on a trip that will cost taxpayers $100,000

Perdue had stated early on that his trip was intended to help bring more jobs to Georgia.  Some news agencies are reporting that a deal is in the works that could bring a $15 million expansion to Perelli Tires in Rome which would mean more jobs for Northwest Georgia.  An update from the Governor’s trip is expected later this afternoon.

Perelli Tires is a global tire manufacturer with plants in Europe, China and East Asia.  The Perelli Plant in Rome is the companies only U.S. Manufacturing facility.
