A Gaylesville man was charged with DUI last week when he wrecked his 1995 Chevy S-10 on Highway 48. According to the weekly Georgia State Patrol Accident Report, Timmy Lindsey of Gaylesville, Alabama was travelling west on Highway 48 when he lost control of his vehicle and left the roadway, going down an embankment and struck a tree. Lindsey told Troopers that he didn’t know what happened and thought he had blacked out before the accident.
Two other accidents with injuries last week were caused by deer. The Georgia State Patrol reported that Melissa Maynor wrecked her vehicle on Farmersville Road after a deer ran into her path. She was transported to Redmond Regional Medical Center by Chattooga County EMS. In a separate incident, Donna Hampton wrecked on The Narrows Road after a deer ran into her path. Hampton travelled down an embankment and landed between two trees. The Georgia State Patrol reported that Hampton wrecked on the paved portion of The Narrows Road, however gravel on the pavement may have played a part in the accident.
