The Georgia State Patrol has released the reports on two separate accidents that happened last week during the severe storms that hit Chattooga County.
According to reports from the Rome Post of the GSP, a car driven by Katie Loraine Brown of Chickamauga was travelling south on Highway 337 in the Teloga area when the drive came upon a tree that had blown into the roadway. The driver told state troopers that she couldn’t see the tree before it was too late and was unable to stop in time. Ms. Brown received minor injuries but was not transported to the hospital.
Another accident happened on Highway 48 near Mahan Road in Summerville. Mark Bethune of Menlo was travelling east on Highway 48 when his vehicle went into the path of a car driven by Anthony Owen of Summerville who was travelling westbound. Bethune told state troopers that his vehicle began to hydroplane when he attempted to switch lanes.
