H1N1 Death in Alabama The Alabama Department of Public Health has confirmed a death in Cherokee County, Alabama that has been positively linked to the H1N1 virus.  The news came late last week that a man in his 50’s tested positive for H1N1 influenza and died as result of the illness. The Cherokee County, Alabama man’s death brings the total number of deaths related to the H1N1 virus in Alabama to 17.  Earlier this year a young boy died of H1N1 in Jackson County, also in Northeast Alabama.
