The recent announcement by the Chattooga County School system that a student had contracted the H1N1 virus was met with a swift response by school administration here in the county.  Dr. Dwight Pullen sent a message home to parents and notified local media when it was determined that the student had the virus.

Around the area several more reports of H1N1 virus have come in.  Chickamauga City Schools have reported a case of the virus – also UTC in Chattanooga has reported two cases of the virus.  A 12 year old student from Jackson County, Alabama recently died from the virus.

Health officials urge parents to be on the look-out for signs of flu-like symptoms and urge a common sense approach for everyone – like washing hands frequently and keeping your kids at home if they show flu-like symptoms.
