The Karen Handel for Governor Campaign is defending statements made last week regarding transportation plans for Northwest Georgia. Campaign spokesman Dan McLangan says the state department of transportation has the wrong route selected to improve travel between Cartersville and Rome. McLangan says the Handel campaign is concerned about cost-effective transportation improvements, and that raising issues opposing a reconstitution of the Northern Arc, are irrelevant to campaign contributions. Congressman Phil Gingrey late last week said he hoped Handel’s opposition to State Department of Transportation plans does not damage plans for the U-S 411 connector project.
