Ryland Scott, M.D., F.A.C.S., recently attended the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES) 12th-annual World Congress of Endoscopic Surgery in Washington, D.C. For the past three years, Dr. Scott has served as an appointed member of the SAGES Bariatric committee. The society’s senior leadership selects 20 international academic thought leaders and educators from around the world to sit on the committee. Dr. Scott was chosen to participate in the committee due to his Bariatric and Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery publications including research articles and textbook chapters and his commitment to ongoing education through telesurgery.Using camera lenses in operating rooms and high speed internet, Dr. Scott has performed surgeries and provided commentary broadcast to educate doctors, students and executives from more than 40 countries around the world.
