Clay Tatum has been named the new Warden of Hays State Prison in Trion effective July 1, 2010. Tatum started his career with the Georgia Department of Corrections as a Correctional Officer in 1991, eventually becoming a Lieutenant at Calhoun State Prison in Waycross in 1996. Hays has 1,680 inmates and 393 staff memebers.
Tatum comes to Hays from Calhoun State Prison where he served as Warden since July 7, 2009.
Within the Department, Warden Tatum has served as a Correctional Officer, Sergeant, Lieutenant, Captain, Deputy Warden, Superintendent, and as Warden of Lee State Prison. At Calhoun, hel was in charge of 1646 inmates and 285 staff members.
He is married and has a stepdaughter.
