The Summerville News is reporting that Hays Prison in Pennville is operating with fewer employees that include a reduction in correctional officers.  According to the report, the paper received a copy of an internal memo that details the reduction in staff at Hays Prison.  According to The Summerville News, the prison is operating with 71 fewer employees. Morale at the prison remains low since the escape of two inmates in October of last year.  At that time Department of Corrections officials staunchly denied that budget cuts had anything to do with the escape of Johnny Mac Brown and Michael Tweedel.
